I think LLLI already does this by labeling their sessions A-B-C-P, or
something like that. A for new moms or first time BFing learners. P for
professional, CERPS, or those wanting to sit the exam. I noticed it in the
last few program brochures and thought it very helpful.
For ILCA, there could be sessions for those preping for the exam. Beginning
sessions could also be for those who have little experience in some areas,
i.e. the hosp nursery RN who has never worked with older babies or the LC
from LLL background who has never worked with preemies. But as I think this
through, defining categories for other IBCLCs becomes rather difficult for
my mind.
We could use a session taught by a NIDCAP specialist. They deal primarily
with Preemies, their developmental signs & symptoms, how to keep these
little guys from becoming too stressed so they can grow at their best rate
and recover from their physical challenges. Yes, of course I have someone
in mind, but I'm sure every hospital has their favorite.
