Dear Friends:
       Thank you Johanna Berger for sharing a happy story. We need to balance
out the difficult cases with good news!
       At present, I am unable to contact a mother I saw over the weekend who
had been in misery for 5 weeks! She had an oversupply, she wasn't supporting
her breast underneath, and she was stuffing the nipple into the baby's mouth.
Her nipples were terribly painful and one was bleeding. We had a lovely
consult, where she experienced pain-free nursing in a variety of positions.
Fortunately, her baby has gained nearly 3 pounds in those 5 weeks.
       I have called her every day since the consult. At 10 am, 1:30 pm, 4:30
pm and last night at 8:30. All I get is the answering machine. So I leave
cheerful messages, hoping that she is remembering to do the things that made
nursing comfortable and wishing to hear from her.
       Such mysteries in life!
