Many women also gain weight as they age, whether or not they have children,
or whether or not they have not been nursing for years. It might be that for
some women they look as they will look, based on metabolism, genetics, diet,
exercise/lifestyle etc, and the fact that time has passed since before they
became pregnant the first time. In my case, there was an interval of nine years or
so between the time right before I was pregnant the first time, and the time
my younger one weaned. In the middle of that, I ate 'my' way, gained 40 pounds
first pregnancy, it all came off, gained 50 with the second, it all came off,
years passed, lived a "fit" lifestyle, and weighed just slightly more than
before I was pregnant. In my case, that might have even been a good thing, I
think.
