Has anyone worked with a mom with a history of Sjogren's Syndrome? This
particular mom is experiencing a low milk supply and has a prior history of low
volumes. This is an autoimmune disease like lupus, but it's uncommonly seen in
women of the childbearing years. Most onsets occur in the age group of the
50's and beyond. This is her primary disease and she carries titers for both
type A & B. She experiences an impact on her sweat gland that causes her to
need to drink frequently. I'm wondering if anyone has ever worked with such a
case, and if so, what were the outcomes? I've had permission to post this
inquiry by the mom. We are curious to know if anyone else has anything to offer
us. Are we expecting to never make enough milk? Any intervention that is
effective with this type of case to increase milk volume? Besides mom's milk
issues, baby was born at 33 weeks gestation and exhibits an immature suckling
pattern and sleepiness, necessitating a small nipple shield to sustain her latch,
but unable to transfer any milk yet. The baby is home now and gestational age
is 36 weeks.

Thanks!
