you go about accumulating the requisite hours of clinical experience before
sitting the exam?

I had a my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology/Premed. I became a La Leche
League Leader when my second child was an infant, so I had LLL hours, (I did
a lot of home visits, as well) then I took on volunteering for the LLL Hot Line
(more hours than just leading) and then worked part time at LLL headquarters,
on the 1800 LLL line. I then worked part time, as a Post Partum Doula, but
claimed only the hours I worked with breastfeeding mothers, helping them
breastfeed. It took me about 3 years.

I feel I gained extensive experience, with babies from preterm VLBW, to
healthy newborns, to crawlers to toddlers, and beyond.

Good luck.
