Call me cynical but is it possible that it is a technique to increase
sales? I am not saying the risks have been fabricated, but surely if the
evidence states that there is no way most pumps can be entirely
sterilized then that is an issue that should be addressed by the
companies. Are they changing their designs and manufacturing specs to
deal with this issue? Someone once posted about mums who pack away their
pumps to use years later for another baby. Where do they stand?

I agree that second hand breast pumps are undesirable but that shouldn't
mean the first owner (and her baby) are also placed at risk because of
poor design.
