Jessica,
My heart goes out to you!

My son went to work with me until he was almost 9 months old. At about that
time he started to refuse to be carried/held for long, and wanted to be down
and into everything, and it was about the time when he could get enough
calories from table food and water from a cup to last the 6 hours that is a
typical work day for me. After he was 9 months old, if I had to be away for
much longer than 6 hours I had my husband or my mom bring him to me for an
hour or two, and then take him home again.

Two things helped me. First, I became very accomplished at sling-wearing,
especially mastering wearing him on my back for when I needed to be
unobstructed and close to a mother. Second, I made use of
mother-baby-separator-gadgets for when I really needed to move around a lot,
or when I was very tired and needed a break. The ones that were the most
useful were the baby swing and the exercise saucer. These are bulky, heavy,
space hogs, but they saved my sanity for the few months that we needed them.

It IS hard.
It IS awkward.
It IS exhausting.
It IS frustrating.
It IS inefficient.
It IS ungraceful.
It IS worth it.
You CAN do it.
It WILL NOT last forever.
You will be so proud of yourself.
