I am just curious how many others out there have WIC programs who are doing
almost nothing to help moms with breastfeeding.  They have things on paper
that look good but in reality nothing is being done.  NO LC, no peer
counselors,etc.  We have nutritionists who are "the breasfeeding, on paper,
counselors".  Well, they must have been trained by formula company reps!
They are pretty clueless.  I have called to inform them nursing through
pregnancy will not kill the unborn fetus, tandem nursing is absolutely fine
(they were trying to tell this mom she HAD to stop nursing the toddler), etc.
 How many moms is our county's WIC program fail because of their OPINIONS and
not research based information!?  Well our advocacy group is looking into
this.  We are trying to get to the bottom of how they can say they have
breastfeeding support and show tons of funds going in that direction on paper
but in reality it doesn't exist.  Does anyone have any experience dealing
with this type of issue?

I am so envious of those of you who have these wonderful WIC programs in your
communities.  I go to conferences and hear it all around me.  So the goal of
our Breastfeeding Advocacy Network in our county is to try to get to the
bottom of this issue!
