A few weeks ago, one of the formula reps was trying his darndest to get
us to say his formula would be better than the other major one because
his was adding the long-chain fatty acids. Who should show up at the
unit staff meeting today but the rep from the other major formula
company (don't even get me started on why they were welcome at these
meetings-it certainly wasn't with the knowledge or "blessing" of the
LC's!!!!). This rep was claiming that the benefits of the fatty acids
were overrated in the case of healthy term infants. He even had a
research article to prove his point. Guess what-that research was
funded by his company. Is anyone surprised at this?
Winnie (whose head is aching from batting it against the brick wall!)
