The best use I ever saw of nurseries was at U of M in early 90's.  Two were
classrooms, one was for parents to camp out in, if baby had to stay in hosp
after mom's discharge (she had to actually go downstairs and exit door of
hospital and come back in as visitor - for legal reasons), and the 4th was
truly a trans nursery, used for observing problems.  Otherwise everything
done in mom's room.  This University hospital also has a Med Inn (like
motel rooms) for families who need to stay nearby, as part of the hospital
complex. What I call "patient friendly."  Novel idea!  Sincerely, Pat in
