My 2 children have sucked digits.  My 2-yo sucks her thumb a lot.  My 
almost 5-yo sucked her pointer and middle fingers together until just 
past her 3rd birthday.  She stopped relatively quickly (within the space 
of about 2 weeks maybe) and when I realized she had stopped I asked why 
she didn't suck her fingers anymore and she said they didn't taste good 
anymore.  Go figure.  Well I am convinced now though that she probably 
would NOT have stopped as easily if I wasn't still nursing her.  She 
nurses twice a day maximum now, at almost 5 (and the deal is that after 
5 it will go down to once a day max).
