Is there a difference between accepting gifts from a vendor
and from a client/patient? Sometimes patients are very grateful
and would like to express their gratitude. How can we let them
do that and still be within ethical bounds?
Clearly, limiting the monetray worth of the gift is one way to
do this. If Susan's hospital has such a policy, then it is
easy to write to the woman to thank her for her thoughtfullness
and let her know of the policy. Has ILCA addressed this issue
in its policy and ethics guidelines?
