A while back there was a thread about older mothers and milk supply.
This is from today's (4/24/97) Washington Post (front page)...

"A 63 year old California woman using fertility treatments and a donated
egg has given birth to a healthy girl, making her the oldest known woman
to become a mother.

The woman-who lied about her age to get into a fertility program that
rejects women older than 55-had a normal pregnancy and has been
breastfeeding her baby since giving birth late last year, her doctor
said yesterday."

And on another recent thread: receiving breastfeeding support from
medical personnel...

I called the local Army hospital's nurse's hotline to discuss my 23
month old daughter who has been vomiting and having diarrhea for 3 days
and not eating any solid food.  I told her she was nursing frequently
and the nurse told me that she needed to *continue* nursing as that was
the best thing for her, and wasn't it a good thing she was nursing
because she would be considerably more ill if she wasn't nursing.  She
also said I could give her watered down Gatorade (which I wouldn't do
anyway) if she refused the breast but *only* if she refused to nurse
because she really ought to be nursing first.

I have had surpisingly good breastfeeding support from DeWitt ACH at Ft.
Belvoir. Good for them!
