I've seen 2 cases of Zoster sine herpete (shingles without lesions) this
past year that presented as unilateral breast pain in friends who still have
post-herpetic neuralgia. One developed a few lesions on her shoulder after
the initial pain. The other had the same symptoms in the opposite breast a
few months before her diagnosis in the second breast. Neither was
lactating. Strange things can occur in the breasts unrelated to pregnancy
or lactation.
