This is getting a bit OT but I just had to say that 22 years ago, I 
took my firstborn to 'Playful Parenting' sessions - like a gymnasium 
for babies, lots of roly-poly fun with Mum or Dad and supposed to 
help their physical development. At about 11 months, they tried to 
get my son to do walking exercises. He didn't do too well with these 
but the staff were very insistent that he needed them - he was 
*supposed* to be starting the walk. This was a baby who only began 
crawling at 11 months and didn't actually walk until just before 18 
months. I stopped going those sessions as the staff were so pushy 
with something my baby was clearly not developmentally ready for.

He breastfed until 23 months, is very smart academically, and doesn't 
play a bad game of basketball. He was not developmentally delayed, 
just a bit different to 'average'. On the other hand, my daughter 
walked of her own accord by 10 months!
