I love to use analogies when I talk with mothers. (I'm a visual learner/thinker myself.) One I use frequently
is the restaurant example to explain supply/demand. The more customers that come to the restaurant, the more
food the restaurant makes. If customers drop off, so will the amount of food made. If they go next door to the
other restaurant, there's no need to make as much food, either. Restaurants also make more depending on the
time of day. More for the peak times they expect customers and less for the in between "down" times. Most
mothers and fathers get this concept easily and it works well with multiples (twice the customers!!).
