Dear Friends:

Rachel asks about Upledger's evidence behind his calling the scalp/bone
deformity resulting from these types of operative delivery "brain hickeys".

There is none. However, it makes sense to me. The potential for brain damage
with the use of the vacuum is documented...........12 deaths and 9 serious
injuries led to the FDA warning back in 1996. The Mighty-Vac training video
describes the pop-off safety feature of the cup when the pressure gets too
high, and then goes on to tell the viewer to place the fingers on the cup in such
a way as to prevent pop-off.

Cephalhematoma from a spontaneous delivery has never, to the best of my
knowledge, been linked to infant death or brain damage.

warmly,
