In our hospital we use chemstrips to check blood sugars on
inants, we all have to undergo colorblind testing before we are
allowed to read the strips.  If the level is 40 or below, we
call lab for a STAT blood glucose and feed the baby 10%
dextrose water immediately, if the baby is a beast baby, we use
peridontal syringes feed them and NOT a rubber nipple.. unless
they are so lethargic we have no choice.  If any one needs info
on these special syringes, pls e mail me privately and Ill tell
you  :)
