Dear Colleagues:

Naomi suggested that I give the contact information and a sample letter to the 3,000+ closest lactivists I know.

[log in to unmask] is Mr. Moore's email address. His website is www.michaelmoore.com.

As I wrote to him years ago, I don't have the letter that I sent.

Here's a template:

Dear Mr. Moore:

Your pursuit of truth in service to the citizens of this country is much appreciated.

As a nurse since 1971, I have seen some of what you have shown in Sicko. Our local professional lactation consultant association had a former claims agent come speak to us back in the 90s. She told us that she was told to routinely deny 1 in 3 of the insurance claims she received. When subscribers have their claims denied, many stop trying to get the insurance company to reimburse. She told us that other companies have different ratios of claims denied to claims processed.

I wish that you would investigate the marketing of infant formula in the US. Formula is a factor in the rising rates of diabetes and obesity in the world; artificial feeding increases the chances of a baby dying of SIDS five-fold. Most mothers delivering in hospitals in the USA today receive a free formula gift bag, despite the negative impact on infant morbidity and mortality of infant formula use. This makes no sense at all, except to corporations.

This topic could certainly use your talents!

warmly,

Nikki Lee RN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE
