Hi!

I have a question. On some posts, some of you speak of donating milk to a friend. When my first child, Javier, was born, he had hypoplastic left heart syndrome. During his month of life, I pumped and gave him my milk, although we never got him to latch very well. I had a huge supply and a very active MER and he would choke, which of course was terrible for him. So we stuck to bottle feeding my milk.

After he passed away, I had about ten litres of frozen breastmilk leftover. I didnt know about milk banks, but I could have given it to a friend. However, since I wasnt into the LC business yet, I didnt know if it was safe or if the milk needed some kind of treatment. I am healthy, have no diseases of any kind... but still, I was afraid to offer the milk to my friend and finally threw it all away.

When any of you donate milk to a friend, do you just say here, this is for you? Or do you do anything special?

Thanks.
