Hello Lactnet friends,

I just got an email from a member of our local peer counselor
breastfeeding support group, who was wondering if about any recent
reported cases of infant botulism in the babies of mothers who used
cabbage compresses on their breasts while breastfeeding.

Since I hadn't heard anything about this, I thought I'd put out some
feelers and see if anyone knew anything about it. The LC said that
someone came to one of their babywell classes asking about it.

I did search the archives for "cabbage botulism" and "cabbage and
botulism" but did not see any recent posts about this issue.

Any information anyone has would be appreciated! Thanks!
