In response the issue of childcare facilities not willing to serve breastmilk in
a cup........

If helpful, the USDA has developed educational materials specifically for
daycare providers. These are free of charge, entitled "Breastfed Babies Welcome
Here"; includes a mother's guide; a care providers guide and a nice poster with
that title and pictures of multiethnic babies.

In the daycare providers booklet it states that breastmilk can be served in
bottles or cups . "Encourage mothers to bring breastmilk in hard plastic
bottles. Sometimes a mother may bring breastmilk in containers other than
bottles. If this happens, pour into a bottle or cup only the amount that you
think the baby will drink......if any breastmilk is left in the bottle or cup
after the feeding, throw it away."

I only wish that they illustrated a orthodonic type nipple instead of a regular
nipple (or even better a little cup). , but at least the information is pretty
accurate. We have the posters in every WIC counselor's work area, and the
pamphlets available to give to moms for their childcare providers.
