Regardless of one's religious beliefs, last Friday was a GOOD DAY for all who
support breastfeeding. Let me explain.

Last Friday I gave a noon presentation about my specialty - the treatment of
snoring and obstructive sleep apnea - to the physicians of a large hospital
(I am on the "sleep team" of two local hospitals). They were very attentive,
very receptive, very interested, asked good questions, and even earned
medical continuing education credits for attending. My expertise in this
area is a direct result of my research in breastfeeding. I feel these same
physicians will be very responsive to a presentation on the significance of
breastfeeding at a later time.

For Friday afternoon, a patient who was pleased with my treatment of his
sleep apnea, had given me tickets to his stadium suite at the home opener of
the KC Royals baseball team. It was there that I met and talked with,
although just briefly, a US Senator about my thoughts on the importance of
breastfeeding and how bfing could significantly cut health care costs. He is
very involved on committee which did not involve health care, but he gave me
the name and address of someone in Washington I could contact. I will follow
up with a letter to that contact. I may not have got my foot in the door,
but I at least got my big toe in!

I felt "WE" had a good Friday and took another step forward in showing the
world that BREASTFEEDING IS THE CHEAPEST FORM OF HEALTH CARE!!!!!!!!
