Anecdotally, some babies refuse to drink EBM with lipase smell, so  
these mums need to treat their milk to make sure it doesn't happen.   
Basically yes, it is predigestion and it really can be foul smelling  
and yuck to taste.  Some babies will drink anything, others are very  
fussy, only way to know is to try, and if bub is happy then nothing to  
worry about, if not then scalding etc is the go, at least that way bub  
is still getting breast milk, not formula.
