Jean (and any others who might know)
Has MRI been used to look at the structure of the breast? It has been one of
my thoughts that it would be extremely interesting to look at how the
structure of the breast changes as someone attempts relactation/induced
lactation (esp if the woman has never been pregnant or is post menopausal).
We just don't know what happens here. In addition, someone has said that 2
months post weaning the breast is back to prepreg condition (so someone
attempting relactation would be back at square 1). I really don't know if
that is the case, but again it would be interesting to look at how the
structure of the breast changes during involution.
I have some knowledge of MRI (having used it to look at the structure of
plants- Don't laugh!!!) and have had some discussions with MRI technical
people about looking at breastfeeding using MRI (and they seemed to think it
was feasible) but has it been done before. Anyone on Lactnet familiar with
breasts and MRI and know if it really could be used to do this?
