I've found that the most important part of positioning a tongue-tied
baby is to set up for an asymmetrical latch, and then wait, giving the
baby a little more time to organize their tongue movements. Placing the
baby's chin on the areola, and letting the baby lunge for the breast
instead of pulling him in as soon as he opens seems to be the most
helpful thing.
