I have the great pleasure of being able to announce the upcoming Health
Professional Sessions and NJ La Leche League Area Conference at the Hanover
Marriot in Whippany, NJ (Routes 287 and 10) on April 18 and 19, 1997.

A program will be presented to health care professionals on both Friday,
April 18th and Saturday, April 19th. Presentations will be made by Kay
Hoover, MEd IBCLC, La Leche League Leader; Susan Ludington PhD CNM CNP;
Vergie Hughes RN BSN MS IBCLC, Alicia Dermer MD; and Jane Sullivan BA,
La Leche League Leader. The theme of the program is "Breastfeeding:
Generating Positive Experiences." Applications have been made to the New
Jersey State Nurses Association and the International Board of Lactation
Consultant Examiners for accreditation. Participants may attend one or
both days of the program.

We have wonderful guest speakers coming ... Dia Michels, co-author of
_Milk, Money and Madness_, will be speaking Friday evening on "Women as
Heroes, Empowerment Through Breastfeeding", and Marian Tompson, LLL
Founder, will speak on our theme this year, "Roots from Our Past, Branches
toward Our Future". Karen Shaw, a folksinger and LLLeader from PA, will
follow with songs from her album "Finding Time".

On Saturday, Marian Tompson will give the General Address, then Ashley
Montagu, renowned anthropologist and author of _Touching_ (among many) will
speak on "The Importance the Mother/Baby Bond".

We're also celebrating NJ LLL's 35th Anniversary. Please join us for two
wonderful days!! For a Health Professional Session brochure, please
contact Sarah Chaikin at (609) 266-5481. For a registration brochure for
the Area Conference, please contact Debbie Pagano at (908) 295-2536.
