I seem to remember that lipase activity increases with freezing and thawing
milk. Is it possible for the mother to refrain from freezing it? If it is
to be used within the next 4 or 5 days it shouldn't be a problem to simply
refrigerate it between expression and feeding, though it must be a blow to
think of discarding milk she has carefully stored over time.
There are plenty of people on the list with much more expertise than mine on
the logistics of feeding expressed milk. Hope one of you feels called upon
to speak up here.
