this is just my 2cents. when i had my second child ( a vaginal this time) i
delivered in a true LDRP setting so Sam was in the same room as me all the
time. His newborn assessment and then bath were done in front of me IN MY
ROOM with very little aplomb while I ate the boxed lunch they provide at 2:30
am. since i had already breastfed him a few moments after he was born i was
able to hobble to the shower after i ate that delicious sandwich (along with
anything else they put infront of me ). My point is that it isnt the practice
everywhere to seperate mom and baby after delivery. I actually tried to send
the baby to the nursery in the morning so i could shower and was told that
the nursery was for sick babies ONLY.  Though the teaching was non existent
in that facility, they were atleast trying to head in the right direction.
