Gabapentin is a newer anticonvulsant.  Gabapentin is also being researched
in the use of Chronic Neuropathic pain of patients with diabetes, pain after
shingles, pain of Reflex Sympathetic Dystophy of MS patients and as an
antidepressant or mood stabilizer.  In many countries Gabepentin is only
approved for use in patient with seizures.  Gabapentin has been used in
children and young adolescents in other countries, but in the USA it is only
approved for use in children over age 12.
The FDA places Gabapentin is placed in pregnancy Category C and in the UK
they caution/warn about use in pregnancy, lactation and abrupt withdrawal of
the drug.  Dr. Hale list it in a Lactation Risk Category: L3
