You asked about dealing with gravely ill babies saying << I find it v.
difficult calling the Mom to see how things are going when I am aware the
infant may have died.>>  I would suggest taking a grief sensitivity or
counseling program, which would be cerp approved as "R" category.
Resolve Through Sharing is one option & offers 2 levels I think. A 1 day
program on grief re pg and infant loss & a 3 day prog. to become a
counselor.  The 1 day should fit your needs fine.  Perhaps the nicu has a
counselor who could talk to you re your needs 1st.  Calling the nicu
nurse for a report gets into pt confidentiality issues.
