I can't think of one thing you should have done differently, Fio.  This
mother got great care from you, and I bet the IBCLC will agree when she sees
them, which should be before the weekend is out.

There are many factors here which would likely delay the establishment of
breastfeeding, such as separation of mother and baby at the start, use of
supplements other than mother's breast, and jaundice.  It sounds like things
will work out once they get past the effects of all the above.  As I
understand it the baby is waking spontaneously and acting hungry, which are
very important good signs.

Stopping the bili-blanket should help, as should feeding on cue.
All the signs you mention, do give cause for concern, and how you have
responded to your concern is exactly how it should be in the best of
circumstances.  Good work, and do let us know how it turns out!
