RE: Ginseng
Use: enhance memory, antifatigue agent
Do not use high doses encouraged by pamphlets and books sold alongside ginseng
products. Take one to three times a day; use product standardized to provide 10
mg of ginsenoside and Rg1:Rb2 ratio of 1:2. Purchase from knowledgeable
pharmacist rather than natural food store.
May cause breast tenderness in women.
If nervousness or excitation occur (in mother or infant), decrease dose.
Generally low toxicity from high-quality, standardized product. Again, see your
pharmacist to ensure this.
Monitor (mother and infant, if appropriate) for acute hypertension, stimulation,
sleeplessness, diarrhea, mastalgia, skin eruptions, and paradoxical
amenorrhea-seriously)
