Unfortunately, this mom was protrayed as an uneducated "wacko" who had been
court-ordered to be attached to her daughter 24 hours a day for several months
because of truancy, etc.  The judge had apparently made this decision because
he had felt that this juvenile needed much-lacking parenting.  The daughter
ended up delivering twins (neither she nor her mom had known that she was even
pregnant!).

This was protrayed as the "comic relief" in what was otherwise a rather
serious episode.  When she mentioned the "breastfeeding until kindergarten",
you could see the doctors grin and their eyebrows go up as if to say "THAT
doesn't surprise us at all - what a nutcase!"
