There are three of us (2.4 FTE's) that are all part time IBCLC's that are
seeing inpatients, outpatients, phone call counseling/triageing, and
running a support group 2x's per week. Two of the consultants offer
prenatal breastfeeding classes as well.We have ~4,000 deliveries/month.
There is no question that we are an asset to the hospital and community but
we now have to show how we earn our keep.

Question to you awesome professionals is if anyone has documentation
(numbers and/or $$$DOllar figures) that can show how IBCLC's Save or can
generate money for the hospitals.
Are there studies with numbers that have demonstrated outcomes that can be
directly attributed to IBCLC intervention/care? We know that we do make a
difference. Pediatricians support our work as well.
WE NEED THE "NUMBERS"!!!

We have started to keep logs of our inpatients, and tracked time spent with
outpatients and phone calls but need help in making all of this work in our
favor in dollars and cents. (I must have missed this rotation in Nursing
School)!
The latest reimbursement communication is from archives is "OLD". Has
anyone posted anything we might be able to use from the last 2 years?

If anyone has any successful tracking tools, charging tools or business
plans for institutional delivery of Lactation Services pleeeeeease email me
or our nurse manager or call. We can return long distance consultation
calls at our expense. Please indicate good day/time to chat.
We love what we do and want to keep doing it and providing the service.
I need this yesterday, time is of the essence.
