Wendy, your daughter's health is obviously not being served by taking
ferrous sulfate. A good food-based iron supplement will be absorbed much
better. In addition, food-based iron doesn't limit foods that can be
consumed with it.

It is common to have capillary bleeding with ferrous sulfate which delays
the restoration of the blood to healthy levels. Many people cannot tolerate
ferrous sulfate but can do very well with a food-based iron.

I had a client whose 6-month-old baby had a slightly low blood count. The
Ped wanted her to give the baby ferrous sulfate drops. The mother suggested
that she, instead, offer iron-rich foods. The Ped assured her that foods
would not raise the levels.

Two months of focusing on naturally iron-rich foods baby had a perfect
hematocrit.

Food or food-based supplements are much better assimilated by the body.
