My twin sons are finishing off computer projects for the second year of
their 3-year Information Technology course. One of them chose
computerization of my private LC practice as his project. He is developing
software which sounds as if it will fit your wish-list! I have been
"interviewed" regarding the smallest details of how an LC does what she
does, and why, and been required to evaluate the resulting software for
user-friendliness. I didn't realize that what we do is so
complicated! When the project is finished, it sounds as if I should be
able to enter into my computer details of mom, baby (including age, weights
etc) history, presenting problem, breast exam, oral exam, breastfeeding
assessment, care plan. Out the other end will come a nice client record,
details of the consultation, a report to the doctor, a weight chart showing
actual weight against expected weight according to age for *this* baby,
details of what equipment was provided on sale or rental, and the cost, an
invoice, a receipt, and a reminder for the next follow-up. At follow-up I
will enter in more data, which will go into the existing file, and the
process will be repeated

Declared interest: proud mom!

I wondered if anyone remembers a tool that was shown at the 1996
ILCA Conference. Or has anyone come up with another tool that can be used to
assess clients, register the problem, check off the plan, send data to their
referring Doctor and collate the statistics and data. It was supposed to
cost about $700.00 US. Does anyone know of such a tool?
