I recently posted some information I had heard about blood in stools (color of
blood having something to do with point of origin in the digestive tract. I
was emailed by
Dr. Jack who enlightened me further and I would like to share his quote with
all of you as it is important:
<<"You have to be careful. The black from higher up, the red from lower
down applies to adults. Because babies are so much smaller, and their
guts shorter, because they have a rapid transit time in their guts,
swallowed blood or bleeding from higher up, could easily be fairly
unchanged."
Jack Newman, MD, FRCPC>>
Thanks again, Dr. Jack. I learn something new everyday.
Hope this helps,
Veronica Scott,
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Coordinator
