>This is one of the things that makes a successful boycott so difficult.
If people can't remember easily what not to buy, it won't work. Now
with companies buying one another out every other week, and having
different arrangements in different countries, a large scale boycott
is almost impossible.<

This is why here in the UK the publicity is usually to boycott Nescafe. For
long years I have been explaining to people that even consistently
boycotting one product -- this is a Nestle flagship product here in the UK
(though beats me why anyone drinks instant coffee) and there are analysts
watching its performance. If you are trying to send a message to the
company, remaining impervious on one product does that. It is not really
about hurting their productivity. And people often ask if Nestle makes own
brands -- I have always understood that they don't, but even if they did,
they are tracking their product, so you are still sending a message.

Of course, if anyone has a better strategy, I am sure all they boycotting
groups around the world will be interested to hear it!
