about babies experiencing diarrhea when the mother takes fenugreek - the
tincture i sell is pretty strong (which is why i don't prefer the teas - not
strong enough and very hard to keep drinking lots of it over a period of
time). barbara wilson-clay once pointed out on LN that fenugreek is related
to peanuts, and a baby who is sensitive to peanuts may be sensitive to
fenugreek. i have seen that happen once, when a baby who appeared to be
sensitized to peanuts in the mother's diet (colic sx. including diarrhea
which disappeared or lessened in severity when peanuts were withdrawn from
mother's diet, there were other sensitivity problems as well) responded in
the same way when the mother took fenugreek.

she stopped the tincture, but felt her supply problems overrode the
sensitivity responses, which didn't completely disappear anyway, so she
started the tincture again - same results. she wanted to take domperidone
but her doctor sagely told her that "it was just like thalidomide - we just
don't know WHAT it would do" (and this to a woman whose previous child, who
had died, had also had a clubfoot, wow, what sensitivity), so she did not try
it.

so i think that in some instances it could cause diarrhea; it should also be
transitory, just as we tell mothers it should be if they have the same
response.
