Peg & Marla,
You say with the pump at the hospital, it's impossible to pump while on
back....I'm curious to find out why you feel this way. I had the opportunity
to help a woman post-disc surgery at the hospital with pumping while on her
back. I had to assist her with holding the flanges, but we achieved the
pumping. She pumped off appox. 6 oz. on each side. I and another LC held
the flanges against her skin so as not to leak out the milk, and then when we
were done, we scooped the flanges away quickly, yes, leaking a little milk
into a towel held across her chest, but the outcome of pumping her down was
indeed achieved. It's not easy, but I think it can be done in this fashion
with any pump. Otherwise, perhaps using the Whisper Wear pump would work for
her if she's interested as she could pump directly into the bags and not lose
her milk? (My intent is not for profit with this pump, but purely for
educational purposes.)
