Fellow lactnetters,

One of my co-workers (an NICU nurse) is 31 weeks gestation now. Her infant
has a cyst under the tongue - viewed on sono. Measures about 2 cm X 1.3 cm.
Cannot tell if it is on the floor of the mouth or attached to underside of
tongue. Baby has been keeping mouth open on sono - needless to say, mom is
extremely worried. She is concerned about breastfeeding, etc.
Have any of you encountered this? What was the procedure once delivery
occurred? Did the LDR staff remove the cyst? Did the mom have to take baby
to ENT? Your experiences and knowledge would be most appreciated by this
worried mother/nurse.
Thanks so much!!
