In the hospitals I've been in , the OB nurses tasks are basically  *labor and
delivery* related only.  They may be there to help get the baby latched on
for the first time, but that's it.  After that point, the OB nurses are
done...then there is a nurse for mom and a nurse for baby, they're so busy
doing all of the paperwork for the mom's a baby's in their care that it's
tough for them to do the most basic of things - such as help a mom to the
bathroom......or answer a call from the mom who's requesting that her baby be
brought back from the nursery.

They are busy busy busy with waaaaay to many tasks....lots of them paperwork
related.
