Hello to all-
This great idea was written up by my friend and co-worker Molly Bryant, RNC
IBCLC. Sure helps with maximizing the yield from those early pumpings when
the tendency is for most of what you get to stick to the pump parts and thus
be wasted.

Here is a very simple way to collect colostrum when you are helping a mom
with pumping.
Have the mother start pumping, starting on low suction and increase the
suction only if no discomfort is felt.

When you see colostrum in the flange, turn off the pump.

Keeping the flange next to the breast, gently loosen the flange (the
breastshield) at the connector.

(This is the part of the kit that now comes in two pieces and allows us
to change the size of the flange/ breastshield to meet each
      woman's need.)

Gently insert the end of the blunt plastic cannula (needle-less
connector) that is attached to the 3ml syringe (in the green and white
package) and draw up the colostrum.
