dear dawn,

i used to believe that too. that is, that it didn't matter if doctors and
nurses didn't know much about breastfeeding, if they knew to refer their
patients to LLL. i finally saw the light about this one: if an hcp deals with
a patient population that includes mothers and children, they have no possible
excuse for not being well-informed about breastfeeding. others like
podiatrists should only know enough to consult LLL, LCs, etc., when necessary.

although i must say my podiatrist is a terrific supporter of breastfeeding. to
think i have gone to hcps in the past who weren't even up to his level!
