I would say that once an IBCLC starts using test weights on an 
appropriate scale, she really learns its value and wants to always have 
it available. For problem situations, of course.

For the IBCLC who does not do test weights, we all will have to decide 
what to do about this in our own practices. One of the things an IBCLC 
must know is current weight and if you do not have a current and 
accurate weight of the baby at the time of the consultation, you can not 
assess correctly. And we can not do an accurate care plan without 
knowing a current and accurate weight.
