Hello Lactnet friends,

My daughter in law is expecting twins. She is now at 28 weeks and on strict bed rest. She will very likely have very small babies very soon. We are hoping she will go another 6 weeks, but she's already dilating. My question is: Can the preemie twins safely take donor milk from my daughter who is nursing a 6 month old and willing to donate. In other words, is mature milk safe at all for preemies? And will the NICU even allow it? I have searched the archives and can't seem to find this answer.

Thanks very much.
