Ilene, this is exactly what I do :)
I have been on Lactnet since it started and it did not take very long
for me to realise that there was no way I could remember even a
fraction of the information I was gleaning here. What I did was to
start saving what I considered to be pertinent information in folders.
Sometimes a topic needs to be divided into sub-categories, so, for
example, I have folders labelled yeast ductal, yeast feet, yeast
cause, yeast Newman, yeast Pat Gima, yeastRX, and so on.

Once in a blue moon I weed out the out of date info, usually when I
need to transfer the folders to a 'puter that has a different system.
For example, I found that many of the files I had saved in Word
Perfect were not accessible in Word.

My personal info filing system is just that and is not meant to take
the place of the Lactnet Archives. I only keep stuff that I am pretty
sure I will use on a regular basis so that I don't have to go digging
around through decades of archived files. It also comes in handy to
review when re-certifying ofr the exam :)
