Dear knowledgable ones,
I haven't posted in awhile, but a compelling issue has brought me out of
the shadows.
We have a mom who was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer when five
months pregnant. Her three year old had recently weaned. She has two
questions that I'm hoping to get some assistance with. One is, she wants
to know the effects of lactation on cancer in the breast. She has
researched the issue as thoroughly as she can and has found little. What
she has managed to locate has indicated that prolactin may encourage growth
of any tumor. If you can point me to any information or studies that are
available, it would be much appreciated.
The second question she has is about obtaining milk from milk banks and
getting insurance coverage. She already has a prescription for donated
milk. I'm sure this has been covered, but I had a hard time finding what I
was looking for in the archives. If someone can point me in the right
direction, I would be grateful.
She is being treated and I understand that her prognosis is good. She is
due to give birth close to the end of this month.
        Thank you,
        Judyth Stavans
