Breastfeeding is a human right, which unfortunately, as with all such
rights, has to be fought for. Often these rights are threatened as much in
peacetime as in war. I would therefore like to be presumptious and remind
Lactnet of the following:

Today is a historic anniversary: we are entering the 50th year from the
inception of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was proclaimed
on 10 December 1948 by the General Assembly of the United Nations. It sets
out everyone's rights in the form of a preamble and thirty separate
articles, or rights. The Declaration recognizes the inherant dignity and
equal unalienable rights of all members of the human family as the
foundation of freedom, justice, and peace throughout the world.
